Patricia Irene "Pat" Briedwell

Patricia Irene "Pat" Briedwell
June 11, 1947 ~ December 1, 2024

Patricia Irene Briedwell “Pat,” aged 77, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2024, at her home in Durant, OK. Born on June 10, 1947, in Bryan County, OK, she was the beloved daughter of Bert Harry Briedwell and Lahoma Irene Briedwell.

As the youngest of seven children, Pat learned the value of resilience, camaraderie, and kindness early in life. Her family moved frequently for work, but Pat’s magnetic personality and athleticism helped her make friends wherever she went. A gifted basketball player, she excelled on the court at every school she attended.

Pat dedicated over two decades of her life to Texoma Medical Center, where she worked as a Certified Respiratory Therapist. During her tenure, she demonstrated exceptional skill and compassion for her patients and formed deep and lasting friendships with her colleagues.

Pat gave her heart to Jesus many years ago and spent her later years immersed in personal Bible study and caring for others, embodying her faith through service and devotion.

Pat was known for her intense spirit, bravery, and humor that could brighten even the darkest days. Her grit and passion for life were matched only by her capacity to forgive and embrace those she loved. Though she never married or had children of her own, she embraced the role of a second mother to her many nieces and nephews, offering her wisdom, laughter, and steadfast love to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Pat was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Bert Harry Briedwell and Lahoma Irene Briedwell, her beloved sister, Elizabeth Ann Porter, and her beloved brothers, William Edward Briedwell, Ronnie Burton Briedwell, Elmer Ray Briedwell, and Timothy Bert Briedwell. She lovingly cared for her siblings during their illnesses, exemplifying her unwavering dedication to family.

She is survived by her brother, Joe Briedwell, and his wife, Dorothy, and by her best friend and cousin, Gail Dills Baker. Gail's love and support brought light and positivity into Pat’s life, especially during her illness. Gail’s unwavering care and encouragement were a true testament to the strength of their bond. Pat will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends who cherished her generosity, laughter, and guidance.

Pat’s life will be celebrated on December 6, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Brown’s Durant Funeral Service in Durant, Oklahoma. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com.

Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
