Madill, OK- George Dixon Bridgman AKA “Joe Dickie” passed from this life on Wednesday, April 22, 2026 in his home at the age of 78. George was born on Friday, February 27, 1948 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Walter Dixon Bridgman and Oleta Littleheart (Emanuel) Bridgman.
George was raised in Ringling, Oklahoma and the Union Hill area south of Ringling. After high school, he began working in the oilfield in the Texas panhandle. George worked as a farmer most of his life after working in the oilfield and settling back in Ringling. He was employed at Austin Cattle Company for many years until his retirement.
George married Phyllis Turner on September 17, 1983 in Ringling. George enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing, and cookouts with family and friends. He loved spending time with their kids and grandkids and attending all family gatherings.
George was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Lowell Bridgman and Richard Bridgman; and a nephew Darren Powell.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of the home; sisters Lola Golden of Kingston, and Linda Davis and her husband Wayne of Kingston; a brother Pete Bridgman and his wife Sonia of Kingston; sons Eric Bridgman and his wife Heather of Enos, and Bill Hamilton and his wife Melissa of Argyle, Texas; daughters Kim Morris and her husband Scott of Norman, Nita Langley and her husband J.L. of Madill, and Sherry Whitehead and her husband Kendall of Mill Creek; 2 sisters-in-law Kay Bridgman and Jonna Bridgman; 17 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of “Joe Dickie’s” life will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at the Kingston Church of Christ in Kingston, Oklahoma.
