Burden, Kansas – Virginia R. Brewer, 62, died Sunday at her home in Burden, Kansas. She is the twin sister of Dorothy Gray, Enid.

Services will be conducted at 10 AM Tuesday in the United Methodist Church at Burden with burial in the Burden Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Miles Mortuary.

Mrs. Brewer was born September 26, 1922, in Winfield, Kansas, to George L. And Iva B. Branson and raised on the Branson Ranch, north of Dexter, Kansas. She attended schools at Winfield, graduating in 1940. She then attended Southwestern College at Winfield and Emporia State College at Emporia, Kansas. She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.

On April 18, 1942, she and Arthur Brewer Jr. were married. They lived in Winfield where she worked as a secretary for Cities Service Company while he served in the United States Air Force during World War I I. The couple moved to Arkansas City in 1954, living there until 1978 where he owned and operated the A & T Equipment Company. They moved to Burden in 1980.

Mrs. Brewer taught arts and crafts in Cowley County for many years and served on the Board of Directors for Cowley County Mental Health Association. She also was active with the Red Cross Blood Bank.

Survivors include her husband, Arthur; a daughter, Cynthia Loos, Broomfield, Colorado; her mother, Iva Branson, Arkansas City; twin sister, Dorothy Gray, Enid, and another sister, Jean E. Wilson, Colorado Springs, Colorado; and three grandchildren.

Memorials in her name may be made to Hospice at Cowley County and/or the United Methodist Church at Burden, Kansas.
