2 dead in crash near Fairview
By Mitchell Willetts
Staff Writer

Two are dead following a head-on collision Sunday night on U.S. 60, 7 miles west of Fairview, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

Wanda Jo Brawner, 61, of Fairview, was heading west on U.S. 60 when her vehicle crossed the center line around 7:24 p.m., hitting another car traveling in the eastbound lane, according to an OHP report.

Brawner died at the scene. The driver of the second vehicle, Shelene Rhea Whiteshirt, 47, of Seiling, was taken to Fairview Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

A passenger in Whiteshirt’s vehicle, Brandon Jay Benton, 41, also of Seiling, was transported to Fairview Regional. He later was admitted to Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in stable condition.

The condition of both drivers at the time of the crash is under investigation. Both Whiteshirt’s and Benton’s seat belts were in use, but Brawner’s was not, according to the report.
