William "Bill" Branson

February 6, 1931 ~ March 8, 2006

Services will be held Monday, March 13 at 10:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Chapel, 3700 River Blvd., for William "Bill" Branson, 75, of Bakersfield, who returned to the Lord on March 8, 2006. Reverend Johnny Mahoney will officiate and interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Bill was born February 6, 1931 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Daniel and Hannah Branson. After coming to California in the late 1930s to visit family, he never went back to Oklahoma.

During high school, he met the love of his life, Audrey, and they married August 7, 1948. They had four children: Yolanda, Belinda, Tim and Brian.

Bill graduated from Taft Union High School in 1948. After graduation, he went to work for Atlantic Richfield until he retired in 1985 as a Production Superintendent. After retiring, Bill enjoyed playing golf with all his friends, and maybe even a little game of gin. He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren play sports, drawing cartoon pictures of them and telling them a few jokes along the way. Bill's memory will be forever with us.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Audrey; and his children, Yolanda and her husband, Ed Edgmon, Belinda and her husband, Matthew Brodsky, Tim and his wife, Terry Branson and Brian and his wife, Sherri Branson. He had eleven grandchildren, Kevin and wife, Michelle Edgmon, Aubrey Edgmon, Cory, Edgmon, Ryan and wife, Coral Branson, Robert Branson and fiance', Tammy Boukas, Christopher and wife, Taylor Branson, Bambi and husband, Danny Henry, Kaci Branson and fiance', Justin Hamilton, Jessica Brodsky, Mike Brodsky and Ben Brodsky. He had five great grandchildren, Lake and Avery Edgmon, Alexa Branson and Payton and Gavin Henry.

No public visitation is scheduled.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated.

Greenlawn Mortuary.
