Douglass G. Brann

July 31, 1916 ~ November 15, 1995

Douglass G. Brann, 79, of Bella Vista, Arkansas died Wednesday, November 15, 1995 at his home.

His family and friends join in mourning the loss after his courageous battle against cancer.

Doug will always be remembered for his love of people, commitment to excellence in his work, and his passion for golf.

Doug was born July 31, 1916, the only child of Frederick Gaius Brann and Myrtle Douglass Brann in Cheyenne, Oklahoma.

He grew to manhood in Cheyenne, Oklahoma.

He was an integral part of school, church and community.

A few highlights of his active life include, co-founder of the first mounted Boy Scout unit; student at Oklahoma A&M, afterwards working in the Security State Bank in Cheyenne until he was called to serve his country in World War II; Captain in the 45th Infantry Division, World War II; married Patty Reynolds, October 1, 1945, in Waurika, Oklahoma; father of Mike, Chuck and Pam; grandfather of Charles and Amy; 50 year member of the VFW, American Legion; 32nd degree Mason; and over 50 years in banking.

Doug worked in other areas after the war but kept in touch with friends in Cheyenne.

Doug and Patty have been residents of Bella Vista for the past five years, and members of the Bella Vista Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Patty R. Brann of Bella Vista; two sons, Dr. Michael D. Brann of St. Louis, Missouri; and Charles A. Brann of Bentonville, Arkansas; a daughter, Pamela H. Meyer of Deerfield, Wisconsin; and two grandchildren, Charles and Amy Meyer.

Funeral services were Saturday, November 18, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the Bella Vista Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Hartmann officiating.

Interment was in Bella Vista Cemetery.

Military honors were by the Bella Vista VFW Post 9063.
