Leonard Arga Branen, 81, was born on February 26, 1943 in Marshall OK to Alta and Ilene Draper Branen and passed away on January 5, 2025.
Leonard attended Orlando, Oklahoma schools and was an OSU graduate. He worked in various departments at Ditch Witch for 37 years, the last 12 years as Director of Product Development. He retired in December of 2000 with the employee # of 116! Leonard also helped with his Parent’s Oil Field contracting business, Branen’s Motor Service, working a second job as an Oil Field Pumper. He traveled the world with Ditch Witch, and he and Marilyn enjoyed taking trips and camping in their motorhome. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, and enjoyed dancing. Leonard was also very active in the First Christian Church, where he served as an elder, and the Perry Community including serving on the City Council, Airport Board, Museum Board, Excise Board, and enjoyed supporting the Perry Basketball teams.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Ziegler) of 42 years; beloved cat, Siara; daughters, Brenda (Martin) Wise of Crescent and Amy (Vince) Abraham of Perry; sons, Shane Zerr of Edmond and Brent (Stephanie) Zerr of OKC; grandchildren, Josh (Jamie) Thompson, Tori Thompson, Tessa (Will) Anderson, Austin (Adriana) North, Taylor Zerr, Colton Zerr, Weston Zerr, Wright Zerr, Reese Zerr, Wren Zerr, and Walker Zerr; great grandchildren, Jenna, Jayden, and Owen Thompson, Aspen Atkinson and Brenley Thompson, Sofia Rodriquez, and Hunter and Christopher Anderson; sisters, Lois (Jim) Smith and Patty Branen; nieces, Tonya (Dan) Schwartz, Alisha (Shan) Kirtley, Yolanda (Scott) Moody, and Bobbie Sue Bower; and nephew, Rhyan Bower.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law, Bob Bower.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made payable to the Noble County YMCA, 107 N 7th St, Perry, OK 73077 or First Christian Church of Perry, 701 Holly St, Perry, OK 73077.
A celebration of Leonard’s life will be held at 2 PM on Monday, January
13, 2025 at the First Christian Church with Rev. Dr. Joshua Bell
officiating. Family Visitation will be Sunday, January 12, 2024 from 2-4 PM
at Trout Funeral Home of Perry. The service will be live streamed from the
