Max Bradley, passed away peacefully at his home north of Mooreland on Friday, June 5, 2026 at the age of 83.
Born at his grandparents, Willie & Minnie Phillips' home in Mooreland, OK on August, 5, 1942 to Lowell Kenneth & Ada Velma Bradley, Max grew up on the family farm north of Mooreland with a strong work ethic and appreciation for his family. He graduated from Mooreland High School in 1960 and later earned his associates degree in Diesel Mechanics from OSU - Okmulgee Tech in 1963.
On April 17, 1965, Max married the love of his life, Carol "Mike" Johnson. Together they built a life filled with love, hard work, laughter, and cherished memories. Their marriage was a testament to commitment, partnership, and enduring devotion through life's many seasons.
After their marriage Max and Mike made their home in Denton, Texas. He worked for a Buick/Pontiac dealership where he became one of the first ASE Certified Master Technicians in the area. However, small town life called them back to Mooreland in 1974 where together they owned and operated M&M Repair in 1976.
One of Max's most remarkable gifts was his memory and genuine appreciation for the people he served. Friends and customers alike were often amazed that he could identify them not just by name, but by their vehicles. He could tell you the exact make, model, and color of a customer's car or truck, and often recall every repair, adjustment, or service he had performed over the years. He took immense pride in his work, treating every job with care and every customer with respect. To him, each vehicle represented a relationship built on trust, and he considered many of his customers to be friends. Max was a familiar and beloved presence wherever he went. Friends and family often joked that they knew he was nearby before they even saw him-the unmistakable aroma of his pipe would arrive first. It became one of his signatures, a comforting reminder of his presence and a small detail that those who knew him best will always remember with a smile.
Max served our country as a member of the Texas National Guard for 6 years. He was also a member of the Mooreland Lions Club and Mooreland First Baptist Church. Max was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell & Ada Bradley, his sister, Donna Kay Bradley Clark, in-laws Glen & Eula Johnson, and other beloved family members. Max is survived by his loving wife, Carol "Mike" Bradley of the home; his children, Cindy Wiscombe & Cotter Brown of Kansas City, KS and Lesleigh & Ryan Lynes of Willis, TX; his grandchildren, Reilly Wiscombe (Lauren), Ian Wiscombe (Sydney), Braden Lynes, and Emma Lynes along with extended family members, and dear friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 12th, at 2:00pm at New Horizon United Methodist Church in Woodward, OK. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Mooreland Volunteer Fire Department, or New Horizon UMC with the funeral home as custodian.
