Richard Boyer

November 09, 1928 ~ January 28, 2018

Memorial service for Richard Boyer is 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 5, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Medford.

Richard was born November 9, 1928, to Joseph and Edith (Mayse) Boyer in Medford, Oklahoma, and passed from this life on January 27, 2018, at Integris Bass Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma. 

Richard graduated from Medford Public Schools in 1947. On March 1, 1951, Richard was inducted into the United States Army. While in active duty status, Richard served in Okinawa during the Korean War from 1951-1953. 

Upon returning from Okinawa, Richard was transferred to Army Reserve on February 8, 1953. He was then honorably discharged from the Army of the United States on November 7, 1956.

Richard married his high school sweetheart, Deloris Jean (Webster) Boyer, on July 19, 1953, at the United Methodist Church in Medford. 

He worked at Warren's IGA grocery store, McClafflin's Implant & Equipment, and Clyde Co-op Association until he retired in 1991 as office manager. 

Richard loved to keep his yard and the church yard "manicured" at all times. He loved to go up to Margie's and have a "coke" with friends in the afternoon. Most every evening, Richard and Deloris would go up to Margie's to eat supper with friends and enjoy a friendly atmosphere. Richard never met a stranger, and could hold a conversation with about anyone that he talked with. 

Richard was a member of the local Lions Club, VFW, and an active member of the Methodist Men's Group, and a member of the 1893 Land Run Historical Center, Inc. 

Those who preceded Richard in death include his wife, Deloris Boyer; parents, Joseph and Edith Boyer; three brothers, J.T. Boyer, Kenneth Boyer and Billy Joe Boyer.

Survivors include, son, Steven Boyer and wife, Gretchen; daughter, Donnetta (Boyer) Tanio; brothers, LeRoy Boyer and wife, Marlene, J.D. Boyer and wife, Cleetis Boyer; grandchildren, Severn Boyer, Jessica Collier, Tristan Collier and Katy Tanio; great-grandchildren, Paytin Collier, Anna Collier and Jahari Collier-Reed; and many loved friends of Medford; cousins, Larry Mayse, Don Boyer, Dene (Boyer) Terry, Jolene (Boyer) Balch, Lola May (Sparks) Berry, Fred Sparks, Bob Sparks, Betty Sparks, Arthur Gene White, Bob Boyer, Oliver Boyer, Alfred Boyer. 

Memorials may be made to the 1893 Land Run Historical Society, through the funeral home.
