Doretha Bowser passed away Friday, May 5, 2017.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 10th at Bartlesville First Church. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Walker-Brown Funeral Home.

Doretha Mae Bowser was born in Coffeyville, KS on July 31, 1933 to Thelma (Updegraff) Jamison & Henry T. Jamison.

She graduated from the Coffeyville Field Kindley High School in 1951. She played cello in the Jr. High & High School Orchestras and was a member of the Drum & Bugle Corps. She attended Coffeyville Jr. College and married Larry Bowser on February 8, 1952.

She worked as a bookkeeper for a local dress shop and did secretarial work for the Exner Dodge Company. She moved to Lawton, OK when Larry was in the Army, stationed at Fort Sill. Their son, David was born at the Fort Sill Army Hospital in December of 1953 at 1953 hours Army time. The Bowsers moved back to Coffeyville in 1954 when Larry returned to the JC Penny Co. Then moved to Morris, IL where he managed the Phipps Department store. The company moved then to Batavia, IL in 1957 & Doretha worked for the local Library and the circulation department of the Moose Lodge at Moosheart in North Aurora, IL. Following Larry's job changes, the family moved from: Plymouth, IN to Minneapolis, MN to Crawfordsville, IN to Liverpool, NY. Upon retirement in 1993 they moved to Mountain Home, AR and then to Bartlesville, OK. Doretha worked in the public & school libraries at these locations and in 1982 was Director of Membership & Publications for the New York State Retail Hardware Association in Syracuse, NY. Doretha had been active in all of the Methodist churches and sang in several of the choirs. She also held district offices with the United Methodist Women and with the Church in Crawfordsville, IN and Mountain Home, AR.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Bowser of Bartlesville. Son, David Bowser & wife Jan & granddaughters, Kris & Jenny of Ogden, UT; their daughter, Karen Fouts & husband Andy of Traveler Rest, SC. Grandson, Noah & wife Jess & four great grandchildren; Liv, Reese, Navy & Jud Fouts; grandson, Isaiah Fouts & wife, Kalli all of the Atlanta, GA area; & granddaughter, Hannah (Fouts) Cross & husband, Justin Cross of Los Alamos, NM.
