Delayne Bowen

Delayne Bowen
February 21, 1935 ~ September 5, 2012 (age 77)

Bowen, Delayne, 77, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in Norman, Oklahoma.  He was born February 21, 1935 in Reserve, Kansas to Thomas and Edna Mae (Long) Bowen.  Delayne was united in marriage on September 3, 1966 in Kansas City, Missouri to Marjorie Peterson.  

Delayne was a member of the University Lutheran Church of Norman.  He began his 30 year career as an accountant with BC Christopher Stock House in Kansas City in 1958 and was employed with them until 1965.  Delayne went to work for Kenworth  Trucking/Dart Company and in 1988 transferred to ESP (Electrical Submersible Pumps) which later became Trico before retiring in 1995.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, traveling, and watching the KC Chiefs and the Kansas Jayhawks.

Delayne is survived by his wife, Marjorie Bowen of the home; two daughters, Susan Atkerson and husband Brett of Lenexa, Kansas and Jennifer George and husband Tracy of Kansas City, Missouri; two brothers, Hillis Bowen and wife Mary Beth of Hiawatha, Kansas and Ronald Bowen and wife Mary Lou of Holton, Kansas; three grandchildren, Tyler Philip Williams Gray, Tanner James Morrison and Emily Lyn Morrison; four step grandchildren, Ryan Atkerson, Brittany Atkerson, Alex George and Andrew George; and a host of additional family members and friends.  

He is preceded in death by his parents.  

The family would like to express their gratitude for the care given to Delayne by Heartland Hospice.

Memorial services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 10, 2012 in the Chapel of the Havenbrook Funeral Home.  

Arrangements for Delayne and his family were placed in the care of the Vice Family at the Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
