Cynthia "Cyndi" (Shorter) Cunningham Bough

Cynthia "Cyndi" (Shorter) Cunningham Bough
October 8, 1946 ~ April 10, 2021

Cynthia (Cyndi) Shorter Cunningham Bough was born on October 8, 1946, in Alva, Oklahoma, to Daniel A. Shorter and Margery Jean Peck Shorter. She died on April 10, 2021, in Frisco, Texas.

She attended schools in Anthony, Kansas; Stillwater, Oklahoma; and Alva, where she graduated from high school in 1964.

In 1964 she started college at Northwestern State College in Alva, and was chosen Freshmen Queen that year. She graduated in 1967 with a bachelor's degree in education. For more than 40 years she put all her energy and her heart into her teaching career. A large part of her career was spent teaching gifted and talented students. She challenged her students to push their boundaries, to reach for the stars, to stretch their imagination. Cyndi spent many hours during the summer discovering new and exciting ways to challenge her students. She taught in Cherokee, Oklahoma; Garber, Oklahoma; Houston, Texas; and several schools in the Dallas, Texas, area.

She leaves behind her husband of 37 years, Dan Bough of Frisco, Texas; sister, Edana Caldwell of Bethany, Oklahoma; sister, Sherry Fullbright of Edmond, Oklahoma; brother, Terry Shorter of Alva, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She also leaves behind hundreds of former students forever changed by the classroom learning experiences provided by Cyndi or "Ms. Bough," as her students called her.

Cyndi was an avid dog lover. She owned and cared for several Pekingese over the years, leaving behind three adult Pekingese and thee puppies!
