James Vance Booth

Sept. 24, 1946 ~ Sept. 29, 2015

James Vance Booth was born Sept. 24, 1946, in Guthrie, Okla., to John and Clara (Marrs) Booth and passed away Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 69.

Jim was raised and educated in Crescent, Okla., and graduated from Crescent High School.

He married Connie Mann Dec. 19, 1965. They made their home in Garber, Okla., and later divorced. They had two boys, Mike and Jason. He later married Judith Miller and made their home in Enid, Okla. They later divorced. His companion and love at the time of his death was Karen Vollman of Enid.

Jim served 71/2 years with the Oklahoma National guard in May 1966. norably discharged in October 1973, serving 71/2 years.

He was manager of the Coop Station in Garber and was instrumental in starting the ambulance service there, where he was the first EMT. He a member of the Garber Volunteer Fire Department, and was chief for several years. He was active in the law enforcement for over 38 years, volunteered as a reserve police officer, jailer for the city of Enid, deputy in Grant County and a jailer at Garfield County Work Release, before retiring.

He loved spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids every chance he had.

Surviving are his companion, Karen Vollman; sons, Mike Booth (Tammie), Garber, and Jason Booth (Melissa), Piedmont, Okla; several stepchildren; sisters, Debbie Booth, Crescent, and Donna Glenn, Harrah, Okla.; brothers, Jerry and Shawn Booth of Crescent; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, Jim Glenn; and brother, Bill.

Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, 2015, at First Baptist Church, Crescent. Burial will follow at Crescent Cemetery under the direction of Abernathy Aaron Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials made made to Oklahoma Wounded Warrior Foundation or Turner Syndrome Foundation.
