David Lewis Bookout

David Lewis Bookout
December 31, 1936 ~ January 13, 2023

David Lewis Bookout was born December 31, 1936, to Bob and Maudie Bookout in McClain County near Cole, Oklahoma, and grew up near Woody Chapel. He was the youngest of six kids.

At the age of 20 he met Rose Marie Cameron on a blind date. They later got married on June 15, 1956. They were married for 54 years and had two children, Robert Lewis Bookout and Deborah Gayle Bookout.

After marriage, David worked as a butcher at the OU commissary. He later opened his own processing plant in Cole, Oklahoma that he operated for 28 years. He then chose to butcher part-time and picked and sold watermelon every summer.

David loved to go fishing and watch NASCAR. He loved classic cars and even had a couple cars that he would take to the car shows. He loved spending the summers selling watermelon and visiting with all those who came through. He was a hardworking and caring father. He spent so much time teaching his grandkids things and fixing what they broke. His great grandkids gave him so much joy and brought so much life to his eyes.

David went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Maudie Bookout; all five of his siblings, Willie Bookout, Willard Bookout, Effie Davis, Opal Faye, and Wilburn Bookout; and two great-grandchildren, Gage and Elijah.

He is survived by son, Lewis Bookout and wife Ruth of Cole; daughter, Deborah Fanning of Cole; eight grandkids including, Brandon Bookout and family of Norman, Josh Bookout and family of Mustang, Ricky Thompson and family of Norman, Jeanna Cooper and family of Cole, Joey Hope and family of Purcell, Tina Anderson and family of Krebs, Roy Bookout and family of Norman and Crystal Poteete and family of Cole; along with twenty-one great grandkids and one great, great grandkid.

The family will be holding a celebration of life at 10:00 AM, Saturday, February 4, 2023, at Goldsby Church in Goldsby, Oklahoma. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home, Blanchard. Online obituary and guestbook are available at www.eisenhourfh.com.
