Services and visitation were held for Dean E. Bobbitt, 73, of Burneyville with visitation at 9 a.m. concluding with services at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 3 in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta with Monte Dinwiddie presiding. Interment followed at 1:30 p.m. in Eakins Cemetery, Ponder, Texas.
Born July 17, 1940 in Fairland, the son of Ralph and Bessie Bobbitt, he died Sunday, July 28, 2013.
Dean met his wife, Arletta Kennedy, while they were attending Ozark Bible College at Joplin, Missouri. While working toward a degree with Spartan School of Aviation he was employed at Swinney Hardware in Tulsa. After graduation he and his wife Arletta moved to Houston being employed by Trans Texas Airlines. Later he and his family moved to the Dallas-Fort Worth area to work at Love Field for Texas International Airlines. When the DFW Airport was built, Dean moved there with Texas International. In the early 80’s he became known for his master skills of fiberglass production for the rest of his life, beginning in Ponder to Pilot Point, Texas and at last Burneyville.
Survivors include his wife, Arletta of the home; a son, Kevin; a daughter, Kimberly; a brother, Marvin; a sister, Doris and her husband Charles Barrick; two grandsons, Lucas and Gabriel; a granddaughter, Addison; two nephews, Damon and Tim Barrick; a niece, Laura Doner; five great-nephews and two great-nieces.
Pallbearers were Damon Barrick, Tim Barrick, Kyle Barrick, Gage Barrick, Kase Doner and Kohl Doner. Honorary bearers were Billy Bob Taylor and Bert Pope.
