Karen Geraldine Blevins, 73, of Sperry, OK was born June 15, 1952, in Fort Gibson, OK, to Lawrence Irwin Blevins and Nossie Wyleene (Ragsdale) Blevins. She passed away July 26, 2025, in Claremore, OK.

Karen attended Sperry Schools and graduated with the class of 1970. She was an athlete in high school, participating in basketball, and track. In the 1980’s, Karen played on a professional women’s football team, known as the Tulsa Babes. She also played on a coed softball and soccer team. Karen worked at the Humpty Dumpty and IGA Supermarkets, and ultimately ended up at Sun Oil Refinery, for 32 years where she worked as a Gauge Operator walking up 40-foot-tall tanks. She was also on their fire brigade team there at Sun Oil. In addition to working at the refinery, Karen was also a fire instructor, along with her fire chief, at Texas A&M every summer for 6 years. After her retirement, Karen loved playing Texas Hold Em at the Osage and Hard Rock Casinos. She played with a women’s league in Tulsa and even won a women’s state championship in California. When Karen wasn’t at the casino, she could be found at her cabin at Whitehorn Cove on Fort Gibson Lake, just enjoying her love for the outdoors and lake life.

She is survived by her sisters, Phyllis Weathers and husband, Leroy of Sperry, and Shirley Vogt of Skiatook; nieces, Benna Weathers-Nye and husband, Jason of Sperry, and Stacy Weathers-Elrod and husband, Darrell of Turley; nephews, Hal Vogt of Ramona and Lee Vogt and wife, Becky of Sperry; 11 great-nieces and great-nephews; 7 great-great nieces and great-great nephews; aunt, Rosalie Blevins of Turley; numerous cousins; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Wyleene Blevins; brother, Joe Blevins; brother-in-law, Harold Vogt; great-nephew, Noah Vogt; paternal grandparents, Harvey and Mollie Blevins; and maternal grandparents, Willie and Dollie Ragsdale.
