Bettie Loucille (Hutchison) Betzen
Oct 20, 1933 ~ Jun 1, 2013

Bettie Loucille Hutchison Betzen, daughter of the late Warren James Hutchison and Elsie Inman Hutchison, passed away June 1st 2013 at the age of 79. Bettie was born in Alva Oklahoma October 20th, 1933.

She grew up on the family’s Dairy farm near Cheyenne Valley, Oklahoma. In her youth she excelled in singing, barrel racing, and basketball.

She married Kenneth Peter “Pete” Betzen in Woodward Oklahoma on October 9, 1953. The couple moved to Wichita Kansas Where they very lovingly raised four children.

Our Mother was a member of Saint Mary’s Cathedral Alter Society, was a school volunteer, and church choir member. We will never forget hearing her beautiful soprano voice ringing throughout the Cathedral during Mass as we sat in the pew below with our dad!

Our Mom found her greatest happiness in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by our daddy Pete her husband of 55 years, her parents and her brothers, Don Hutchison and Melbourne Hutchison.

She will be so greatly missed by her children Roxanne Betzen Nichols and husband Mike, Peter Randall “Randy” Betzen and wife Sonja, Rebecca Betzen Gaskill and husband Guy and Ronald Justin “R. J.” Betzen and wife Karen. 13 grandchildren, Tori Gaskill Miller and husband James, Drew Nichols, Tessa Gaskill Wickware and husband Tony, Sarah Nichols Vega and husband Nick, Elizabeth “Liz” Betzen, Brooklyn and Brittany Betzen, Pete Betzen, Tawni Gaskill, Joy Betzen, Bliss Betzen, Jennifer Betzen , and Taylor Russell. Four great grandchildren Toby Miller, Beau Wickware, Annika Rose Miller and Noah Wickware, her brother Harold Dean Hutchison and wife Tomaline from Vici Oklahoma, plus many nieces and nephews and friends.

Our mother, Nana, Nana the great-taught all of us how to love have hope and to have strong faith. She loved us all dearly and we knew it. She will be in our hearts every day. We will think of her with a smile every time we see a lady-bug, when we were children we named them Elizabeth Lucille in her honor, she was such a “Lady”.

She will be sorely missed by all of us however we rejoice in the fact she has joined our dad in Heaven with our Heavenly Father. Her work here on earth is completed and she can rest with no pain and worries.

Her Services will be held at St. Peters Catholic church on Saturday, July 6th at 1:00pm.
