Grover Lyle Beeman

March 7, 1932 ~ January 27, 2013

Grover Lyle Beeman died unexpectedly on 27 Jan 2013. Lyle was born on March 7, 1932 in Decatur, Arkansas to Sterling and Mildred Beeman. He graduated Verdugo Hills High School, Tujunga, CA in 1948.

Lyle joined the Air Force in 1950 as an enlisted airman, serving as a Cryptographic Operator. He was selected to attend Officer Candidate School and received his commission in 1958. Following his commission, he served as a Communications Officer, Detachment Commander, Communications Maintenance Officer, Maintenance Quality Assurance Team Leader, and Director of Maintenance Staff. He served proudly in the Air Force for 23 years, fulfilling many assignments all over the world; several tours in Europe, the Philippines, and across the United States until his retirement as a Major in 1973.

He began his second career at the United States Postal Service from 1973 until 1995. His cheerful demeanor as a Window Clerk at both the Midwest City and Tinker Air Force Base locations led to his selection to Training Instructor for Window Clerks at the Training Center in Oklahoma City. Lyle lived life to the fullest. He was an avid reader, and enjoyed bowling and gardening. His faith and church life were very important to him. He joined the Knights of Columbus in 1956 and served his church, St. Philip Neri, for many years as a Eucharistic Minister.

Lyle deeply loved his family. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Joy, for 58 years. He was a wonderful father to his two daughters and three grandchildren.

Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ted, and sister Mary.

He is survived by his wife Joy Beeman, daughter Gail Cargal and husband Larry, daughter Donna Hale and husband Frank, grandson Colin Anderson, granddaughters Allison Hale and Chelsea Hale, three nieces and a nephew. We will miss him every day, cherish our memories, and thank him for the inspiration he provides us always.
