A Celebration of Life service for Rox Gene Beckner, 69, of Waukomis, will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at the Hennessey School Auditorium with Rev. Shane Bennett and Rev. Jimmy Berkinbile officiating. Cremation will follow the service under the direction of Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00-3:00 pm at the funeral home.
Rox was born October 1, 1956, in Enid to Darell and Barbara (Helterbrand) Beckner and passed away March 9, 2026, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Rox grew up on the family farm south of Drummond and graduated from Hennessey High School in 1974. In his younger years, he worked alongside his father farming and ranching as well as enjoying a short professional steer wrestling career. Rox and his father operated a custom cutting crew for several years. In June of 1976 Rox married Ginger Hobbs, and to this union a daughter, Katie, was born. He later married Michelle Hunter on March 20, 1981, in Waukomis. From this marriage came a son Tanner and daughter Tessa. Together Rox and Michelle built a life centered on family and hard work on the same farm he grew up on.
Rox's knowledge and love for cattle aligned him with a job hauling livestock in his younger years. After his son was born Rox started work closer to home and spent a few years working in dirt construction operating heavy equipment for Barry Smith Construction building and leveling ground for newly arriving pig farms that surround Kingfisher, Blaine and Major County. Rox later transitioned from heavy equipment to Driving trucks for Barry Smith that turned into years of becoming a "Swine nutrition transportation specialist" as he called it. In 1999, Rox traded the Truck seat for an office chair and went to work for Seaboard Farms, where he served as the Transportation Supervisor until his retirement in 2019. Rox also ran a Cow Calf operation for years alongside his wife. Sitting outside watching cattle graze in the pasture was his happy place.
Rox was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. He and his wife enjoyed taking long motorcycle trips and spending time on the open road with friends and family. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family, and the many friendships he made throughout his life. Rox was always the life of the party, and his humor brought joy to those around him.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle; his children, Katie and husband Shannon Barrett, Tanner and wife Erica Beckner, and Tessa Myers; his grandchildren, Avery, Jack, Emma, Wyatt, Grace, Annistyn, Isabella, and Benjamin; his aunt, Sharon and husband Don Hennigh; as well as several other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
