John Lawrence Beaven

John Lawrence Beaven
December 10, 1937 ~ May 9, 2026

John Lawrence Beaven was born on December 10, 1937, in Jefferson Town, Kentucky, to George and Mary (Barrett) Beaven. The family lived in Kentucky until John was eight years old. At that time, they moved to Elizabeth, Indiana, where they lived on a hog and tobacco farm. John attended school in Elizabeth, graduating high school with the class of 1955. Then on June 29, 1957, John married Phyllis Jones in New Albany, Indiana.

In 1965, John joined the Jefferson Masonic Lodge in Indiana, and stayed active in the Masons thereafter. John moved his family to Pryor, Oklahoma, in 1974, and helped launch the Ford Glass Plant in Tulsa. It was then that he moved his Masonic membership to the lodge in Pryor, and later to Adair, when the Pryor lodge closed. He was also a member of the Scottish Rite where he received his 32nd degree. John served in the National Guard for nine years. He was also a member of Creekside Church in Pryor.

Upon his retirement from the glass plant in 2000, John occupied his time gardening and traveling. He was also able to pursue his interest in NASCAR beyond watching it on television. He participated in several NASCAR Experience events, where he was able to drive the cars and even once had lunch with Richard Petty.

John Lawrence Beaven departed this life on May 09, 2026, in Claremore, Oklahoma, at the age of 88.

John is survived by his wife, Phyllis Beaven; sons: John David (Lynna) Beaven, and Brian (Tanya) Beaven; grandchildren: Chad, Monica, Travis and Kyle; great-grandchildren: Elfa, Corrina, Antonio, Porter, Hayes, Raelyn, Bokerah, and Kellie; sister, Doris Barnes; and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary Beaven; grandsons, David Kent Beaven and Coty DeSautell; and brother, George Beaven.
