Linda Suetta Bass passed away suddenly on June 18, 2025, at the age of 70 while bravely battling cancer. She was born on November 11, 1954, in Durant, Oklahoma, daughter of Wanda Lucille Kelsay and Robert Gene Bass.
Linda graduated from Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secretarial Administration. She began working at Southeastern as a Student Aide in 1973 and continued in the same office, eventually working up to the position of Loan and Grant Coordinator. She moved to Stillwater in 1986 to continue her education at Oklahoma State University. In Stillwater, she took a part time job as Dispatcher at the OSU Police Department and stayed there the rest of her career eventually becoming the Secretary to the OSU Chief of Police and ending her time there as the Administrative Support Contributor in 2017.
She was a loving aunt to her nephew Jerimy, allowing him the opportunity to attend university at OSU. She had countless friendships made both in Durant and in Stillwater that continue today. She was also “Auntie Linda” to hundreds of kids now spread across the country who were blessed with her love and friendship. Linda was strong-willed and stubborn at times, but she also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. She was generous, loyal, and brave. She was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all her life experiences. Linda was a lover of food, laughing, movies, music, cats, her family and friends. To know Linda is to have laughed with or to have shared a kind word, whether a close friend or stranger. She was an example to so many and a shining light to all who knew her. When you think of Linda, celebrate the good memories you have of her. Remember that life is fragile and short and should be lived to the fullest. She will be missed more than any words could express but she will be forever in our hearts till we meet again.
Predeceased by mother Wanda, father Robert, and brother Joe. Survived by sisters Kathy and Cherryl, nephew Jerimy, uncle Harold Wayne Kelsay, aunt Nora Agnes Chessher, and numerous cousins.
Her family wishes to extend a special thanks to the dedicated staff of the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center. “In our hearts you hold a place that no one could ever fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you didn’t go alone. For part of us went with you, the day God took you home.” Author Unknown. As Linda would say, let’s see how the rest of it goes.
A celebration of Linda’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, June 27, 2025, at Brown’s Funeral Service Chapel, Durant, OK. Chaplain Don Fentem will officiate. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.brownsfuneralservice.com .
Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Durant Funeral and Cremation Service.
