Chief Barrick, Jr.
October 14, 1948 ~ May 4, 2023

Chief Barrick, Jr. was born October 14, 1948 in Belle, Missouri to Freddie and Arlena (Evans) Barrick. He passed away May 4, 2023 in Oklahoma City at the age of 74.

Chief graduated from Farrier College in the mid 70’s. He was the founder and past president of the Oklahoma Farrier’s Association and on the board of directors of the American Farriers Association. As he changed hobbies throughout his life, he associated with his new hobby often becoming the president of that association.

Chief was a member of the Chandler First Baptist Church where he led a men’s bible study group. He enjoyed watching bull riding, gardening, woodworking, and was a master farrier and blacksmith. He had many friends and grew close to his clients, the horses he shoed while tolerating some of their owners.

Chief was preceded in death by his parents, Freddie and Arlena Barrick; and his sister and brother-in-law, Patsy and Junior Doyle. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Connie (Howerton) of the home; children, Keith Barrick of Missouri, Milissa Barrick of Illinois, Matt Wurtz and his wife Tina of Missouri; (4) grandchildren, Christopher Luna, Brittney Barrick, Dakota Barrick and his wife Rachel, Jacob Barrick; brother, William Barrick of Texas.

A funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 8, 2023 at the Chandler First Baptist Church with Reverend Rick Blackwell officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
