Otis Darryl Barnes
December 21, 1942 ~ March 14, 2026

Otis Darryl Barnes, 83, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at his home.

The family will welcome friends to Lakewood Christian Church, 840 S. George Nigh Expy, McAlester for a visitation on Wednesday, March 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 19th at Lakewood Christian Church in McAlester with Pastor Paul Vanderveer officiating.

Darryl was born on December 21, 1942 in Dyer, Arkansas to William Otis Barnes and Letha Burk. He married Jackie on June 8, 1974. His early years was spent in Arkansas, moving to McAlester at 6 years old. He graduated from McAlester High School in 1960 and played football for 3 years. He worked for PSO for 43 years, starting in 1966 as a meter reader, and moving up to office manager. He later was the District Manager over several counties in Southeast Oklahoma.

He loved to crappie fish and golf. We always had a freezer full of crappie. He spent many summer evenings at the ball field, coaching softball when the boys were small. He served in the Lions Club for many years. He helped start Lakewood Christian Church in 1980 and served as an Elder, secretary and other positions at Lakewood.

Darryl is survived by his wife, Jackie for over 51 years of marriage; five children, Bobby Barnes & wife, Donna, Stephen Barnes and wife, Cheryl, Jeannie Moon, Eric Barnes and wife, Lisa, and Ronnie Robbins; grandchildren, Angela, Wyatt, Andrew & wife, Emiliegh, Savannah Barnes, Daralyn & Rob Thompson, Laurel Robbins, Katelyn Anderson, Garrette Steele and wife, Jami, and Olivia Barnes; great-grandchildren, Neal, Evelynn, Mattie, Raya, Cody and Kelsey; brother, Ronnie Barnes, and Johnnie Greenwalt & husband, Tim; also, many half-brothers and sisters, Anna Faye, Linda, Pat, Rosella, Bubby, Darryl, and Lottie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Barnes and Letha Burk; two sisters-in-law, Sharon Barnes and Sharon Thompson, nephew, Stephen Kent Barnes; half-brothers & sisters, Deloris, Gertrude, Pansy, and Harold.

Special thank you to Heartland Hospice, Amy Jo and all the aides, they were wonderful.
