Mary Maxine (Moore) Baker was born August 1939 at the family farm outside Carney. She passed away peacefully May 5, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Mary was a true farm girl - she milked cows and raised animals including sheep, pigs, horses, chickens and turkeys. She attended Carney Schools, was class president and graduated valedictorian a year early in 1956.
In December 1956 she married her sweetheart Gene Baker at the family farm. Gene and Mary lived in Webb City where they had two boys.
They moved to Kingfisher in 1968 where they raised their boys and sent them off to OSU.
Mary was a Cub Scout den leader and committee member for Scout Troop 196. Both their boys and grandson Jordan Baker achieved Eagle Scout.
Mary was also a sponsor for the KHS marching band; she was lovingly referred to as “Flossie Belle.”
Gene and Mary ran a belt buckle business and were members of the NABBC for belt buckle collectors. Mary loved getting to know people from all over the world who enjoyed this interesting hobby.
Later in life, Gene and Mary enjoyed traveling in their Airstream trailer.
Mary always enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and trips to Tucson to see her older brother Doyle.
Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life - she enjoyed embroidery, gardening, cooking, the county fair and paying her bills in person.
Mary was thoughtful, always had time to visit, had a witty sense of humor and made everyone she met feel special and loved.
She would want you all to know: “People just want to be noticed.” Mary will be dearly missed and will be remembered for the joy and kindness she shared with others.
She was preceded in death by her husband Gene Baker; brothers Jack and Doyle Moore and their spouses.
She is survived by her son Mike Baker and partner Carol of Plano and Mike’s three sons, Marcus Baker and partner Angela of Maine, Paul Baker and wife Kirsten Underwood of Maine, Matthew Feir and wife Alyssa of Nova Scotia and their four boys; son Kenneth Baker and wife Debbie of Yukon, Kenneth and Debbie’s children Jordan Baker and wife Amber of Yukon and Kenna Jackson and husband Keith of Edmond.
