Eurple Amanda “Bunny” (Dowdy) Baker
May 23, 1926 ~ June 30, 2026

Eurple Amanda “Bunny” Baker, born May 23, 1926, to Frank Wiley and Hester Mae Dowdy in Bristow, Oklahoma, departed this life on June 30, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100.

Bunny graduated from Bristow High School in 1944. On June 30, 1945, she married Merle Baker, beginning a loving union that lasted 58 years until his passing in 2003. Their life together was marked by devotion, hard work, and deep family roots.

A faithful member of the Bristow First Church of God, Bunny served her church family in many roles over the years. She taught Sunday School, served as Sunday School Superintendent, helped establish Children’s Church, and contributed in countless other capacities. Her commitment to ministry reflected her steadfast faith and her heart for nurturing others.

Bunny enjoyed gardening, painting, and the simple joys of a life lived with purpose and love.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Black and Cathey Duplissey; and four grandchildren, Chase Duplissey and wife Brooke, Brian Kilburn, Lance Kilburn, Kara and husband Stephen Kochik; five great grandchildren, Grey Duplissey, Sage Duplissey, Baylin Kilburn, Keytin Kilburn and Waytlin Kilburn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Merle; two sisters, Nona Meadows and Dorothy Sparkman; and three brothers, Junior Dowdy, John Dowdy, and Bobby Dowdy.

Funeral services are 10:00am, Monday, July 6, 2026 at Hutchins-Maples Matherly Funeral Chapel.
