Russell Edward Avery

The services celebrating and honoring the life of Russell Edward Avery will be held privately. Complete cremation care and services are under the direction of Brown-Cummings Funeral Home.

Russell was born July 15, 1959, to Albert Avery and Christina Welch in Rugby, England and passed from this life May 21, 2023, in Enid, Oklahoma.

He moved extensively throughout the United States and abroad following his father’s Air Force career. He moved with his family to Enid in the 1970’s where he attended Enid Public Schools. After school he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1978. He moved to Fort Benning, Georgia where he met his wife of forty-four years, Joyce Richardson; the couple was married July 14, 1979, in Enid, Oklahoma. They moved to Columbus, Georgia where he worked as a long-haul truck driver for eight years, he then founded Avery’s Home repair which he owned and operated for ten years until he returned to trucking in San Antonio, Texas until becoming medically unable seven years ago. In 2016 the couple moved to Enid to be near their family.

He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed deer hunting and fishing. He was a proud Papa and absolutely loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Joyce Avery, of the home, three children, Kyle Avery, Chad Avery, and Sherry Reese and her husband Marty; seven grandchildren, Courtney, Marissa, Peyton, Conner, Malana, Leila, Caleb; five great-grandchildren, Sophia, Aubree, Ayden, Sarah, Alyana, these kids meant the world to him! and he meant the world to them! He is also survived by his mother Christina Avery.

He was preceded in death by his father Albert Avery and his brother Marlin Avery.
