Mary Lucille (Wray) Atkinson

December 11, 1936 ~ January 22, 1993

ATKINSON Mary Lucille, died on January 22, 1993 in Oklahoma City at the age of 56. She was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas on December 11, 1936.

She graduated from the University of Arkansas in 1958 and from Tulane University in 1960 with a MS in Speech Pathology.

She married Dr. Schales Atkinson on June 27, 1958 who survives her.

She is survived by their four children, Sarah Atkinson of Topeka, Kansas; Mary Beth Stephens of Springfield, Illinois; Schales Atkinson of St. Louis, Missouri; and James Atkinson of Bennington, Vermont.

Additionally, she is survived by her parents, Robert and Gladys Wray of Pennsylvania and Florida; and two brothers and a sister.

Since arriving in Oklahoma City in 1969, she has provided both individual speech therapy and swimming lessons to many local children. She also volunteered extensively having most recently served as President of Friends of the Library and Phi Beta Kappa.

Memorials should be made in her memory to the Friends of the Library or Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship Fund of Oklahoma.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel.
