Howard Franklin Armstrong

January 13, 1934 ~ May 8, 2016

Howard Franklin Armstrong, 82, of Bartlesville, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, May 8, after battling cancer. Howard was born on January 13, 1934, to Clell and Mildred (Tatum) Armstrong in Nowata, Oklahoma, and was raised at Coody's Bluff east of Nowata. Mr. Armstrong entered the National Guard service in 1950 and was stationed in Japan during the Korean conflict. Upon his return he continued with the National Guard, 145th Infantry Division, for a total of 16 years. He married Muriel Fox on October 23, 1955, at Coffeyville, Kansas. They made their home in Nowata until they moved to Bartlesville in July, 1983.

He is survived by his wife, Muriel; a daughter; Sue Ellen and her husband Archie Long of Hamilton, Kansas, and a son; Howard Armstrong, Jr. and his wife Pam of Houston, Texas. He was also blessed with four grandchildren; Brad Armstrong and wife Jennifer and their two sons; Alex and Chris of Norman, OK; Michelle Armstrong of Orlando, FL; Matthew Armstrong of Clermont, FL; and Daniel Long of Emporia, KS; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters; Sue Dick, Rosalie Nichols and Garnett Epple.

Mr. Armstrong has been cremated. There are no plans for services at this time.
