The funeral for Lola Mae Anderson, 79, will be 11 AM Wednesday at Progressive Baptist Church in Enid. The Rev. Ronnie Jacobs will officiate. Burial will be in Texas. Arrangements are by Howard – Harris Funeral Home, Oklahoma City. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM Wednesday at the church.

She was born January 10, 1925, in Amps, Texas, to Caroll Gardner and Ellen McDade and died Tuesday, May 4, 2004, in Baylor Hospital in Texas.

She graduated from high school, then attended Jarvor College in Texas and Phillips University in Enid. She was an alcohol and drug counselor of Garfield County. She was a member of Eastside Ministries Wives and founder and president of Southern Heights Community Mission. She was a member of Garfield County Church Women United, Interracial Women's Club, American War Mothers, Home Economics Club and Democratic Women's Club of Garfield County. She was one of the founders of IRWC and past president and served as treasurer for 35 years for Martin Luther King Scholarship program.

She married William L. Anderson. She was a member of Progressive Baptist Church and served as president of Grayson Missionary Society for eight years. She was a hospital assistant working as a nurse's aide.

Surviving are her husband, William; one son, Ralph of Dallas; one sister, Barbara Sue Driver of Texas; two grandsons; and three great – grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
