Sammy (McKinstry) Allison
February 20, 1920 ~ December 22, 2009

A church service for Sammy Allison, 89, of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Muleshoe, Texas, is scheduled for 11 AM Saturday, December 26, 2009, at First United Methodist Church, Muleshoe. The Rev. Monte Leavell of Muleshoe will officiate. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, Muleshoe.

Mrs. Allison died Tuesday, December 22, 2009, in Amarillo. She was born February 20, 1920, in Hagerman, New Mexico, to Sam and Loveta (Swann) McKinstry.

She married Oscar Allison January 2, 1948, in Roswell, New Mexico. He preceded her in death January 1, 1982, as well as her parents and two sons – in – law, L. T. Johnson and Buddy Black.

Mrs. Allison moved to Muleshoe in 1948 from Las Cruces and in 2006, moved to Amarillo. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Muleshoe. She was President of WMS and had held many offices in that organization. She attended Colorado Women's College in Denver and also attended Texas Tech. She played bridge and belonged to several clubs and was active in the community and church. She had lived in the Pleasant Valley community for a number of years and belonged to the pleasant Valley Social Club.

Surviving are two sons, Mack Allison and wife Kay of Enid, Oklahoma, and Sam Allison and wife Kathy of Amarillo; two daughters, Nan Johnson of Muleshoe and Susan Black of Dumas; two sisters, Jean Allison of Muleshoe and Mildred Shirley of Grandbury; 10 grandchildren; 19 great – grandchildren; and eight great – great – grandchildren.
