Hazel Ruth (Phillips) Allen
August 30, 1942 ~ August 14, 2014

Hazel Ruth Allen a resident of Durant, Oklahoma and beloved family member passed away in Denison, Texas on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at the age of 71 years 11 months and 15 days. She was born in Guthrie, Oklahoma to Charles Winston and Edith Francis (Sluder) Phillips on Sunday, August 30. 1942. Hazel married Donnie Allen, he preceded her in death on October 4, 1995.

Hazel had a sence of adventure and loved to go dancing and especially loved getting to ride a Harley. She had many interests over her lifetime; traveling, going to the lake, bowling and golfing. Hazel always looked forward to spending time with her family, she especially cherished her time spent with her grandchildren.

Mrs. Allen is survived by her daughters, Shelia Ketchum and husband Kenneth of Durant, Oklahoma and Angie Hall and husband Ray of Bokchito, Oklahoma; sisters, Bea Ladd and husband Roger of Durant, Oklahoma, Dessie Henry of Caney, Oklahoma, Martha Smith and husband Johnny of Durant, Oklahoma and Betty Gilbert of Durant, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Jason Goolsby and wife Carolyn of Durant, Oklahoma, Jennie Dawson and special friend Lorraine Price of Calera, Oklahoma and Kendra Ketchum and Patrick Legge of Durant, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Angela Goolsby and Addyson Legge; brother, Jimmy Phillips and wife Mary of Silo, Oklahoma; half-brother, Chock Collum and wife Bessie of Perkins, Oklahoma; half-sister, Rudene Van Burnt of Junction, Texas; dear friends, The Don and Jan Malone family; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Edith Phillips; husband, Donnie Allen; sister, Bonnie Phillips; half-brother, Raymond Collum; half-sisters, Imogene Heflin and Nette Mae Rich; granddaughters, Whitney and Alicia Ketchum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A gathering of Hazel’s friends and family will be held from 6-7:00 PM Monday, August 18, 2014 at the Holmes ~ Coffey ~ Murray Funeral Home in Durant, Oklahoma.
