Richard Wayne Akin

Richard Wayne Akin
April 5, 1944 ~ October 27, 2025

Richard Wayne Akin, age 81, a longtime Caddo, OK resident. He was born on Wednesday, April 5, 1944, to John Harrison and Betty Lou (Jackson) Akin, at Oklahoma City, OK. Richard passed away on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Caddo, OK. He attended Norman High School and then went on to Okmulgee Tech studying Auto Mechanics. Richard worked at Ethan Allen doing wood working and he later mowed yards.

Richard proudly served his country in The U.S. Army.

He married Linda Sue (Carey) on Tuesday, March 26th, 1968 at Atoka, OK. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before his passing.

Richard enjoyed fishing, OU Football, puzzles, Find a Word books, deer hunting, "being gripey", watching Nascar, dirt track racing and taking a good nap.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda Sue Akin of the home in Caddo, OK; son, Richard Akin Jr. and wife Jennifer of Daisy, OK; daughter, Sherry Bayles and husband David of Stringtown, OK; grandchildren, Jonathan Thacker of Durant, OK, Bryan Bayles of Stringtown, OK, Lawrence Akin of Daisy, OK; great grandchildren, Xoe Thacker of Durant, OK, Jay Thacker of Durant, OK, Brylee Bayles of Atoka, OK, and one on the way; sister, Linda Sue Ball of Washington, OK;  along with nieces, nephews, extended family, and many dear and loved friends.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, John Harrison Akin and Betty Lou (Jackson) Farrell; grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa Jackson, Grandma and Grandpa Akin; brothers, John Akin, Wally Farrell, Pete Farrell.
