Bessie E. Walker went home to be with her Lord on July 28, 2017 in Duncan, Oklahoma. She lived a long and beautiful life, selflessly devoted to her family and her faith.

Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Wann Cemetery in Wann, Oklahoma, with longtime friend Rev. Bill Wealthall officiating, and arrangements have been entrusted to the family care of Carter-Smart Funeral Directors.

Bessie was born to John C. and Sarah A. (Brendel) Boyd, January 31, 1925 near Worland, Missouri at Peacock Coal Camp, one of seven children. On December 27, 1945 she married Robert G. Walker. They had two sons, Robert M. and Terry G. and lived most of their life in Caney, Kansas. Bessie worked as a school secretary at Caney Valley High School for several years. She also was a charter member of the Caney Orthodox Presbyterian Church. Bessie was well known in Caney for singing and playing piano at countless weddings, funerals, and church services over the past 50 years.

Bessie is survived by one sister; Sarah (Sally) Lynn of Sedalia, Missouri, two sons; Robert M. Walker and his wife Yvonne of Prescott, Arizona. Grandson Jason Walker and his wife Leita, great-grandchildren; Hank, Nettie, Ida and Freya. Son; Terry G. Walker and his wife Judy. Granddaughter; Sherri Whyte and her husband Robert, great grandsons; Walker and Jacob. Grandson; Tony Atchison and his wife Ranee, great-grandchildren; Ella Rose and Rex.

Bessie was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her parents and 5 of her siblings.
