James Lawrence Mehl,79, of Fairland, Oklahoma, died Sunday, November 24, 2019.

Jim was born February 12, 1940 in Wann, Oklahoma, to parents Ellis Lawrence Mehl and Ida Louise (Fitzsimmons) Mehl. He went to Wann Schools through the 11th grade at which time he started working. Jim worked on a pulling unit for D.P. Bonhim. He also worked as a road grader for Nowata County District 2, road boss for Washington County and also for Delaware County in Grove. Jim loved to go fishing, hunting and camping. He also enjoyed dancing, but he got the greatest enjoyment in life from spending time with his grandchildren. His eyes lit up every time he saw them.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elis Lawrence Mehl (Spatchie); mother Ida Louise (Babe) Fitzsimmons and grandson Phillip Sebert.

Jim is survived by his sons James Michael Mehl and Rodney Leeland Mehl; daughter Rhonda Elizabeth (Mehl) Sebert; grandchildren Michael Joseph Mehl, Kyler Mehl, Carrie Dawn (Mehl) Badillo, Casey Sebert; great grandchildren Michael Donald Mehl, Kyle Howard Mehl, Nathan James Mehl, Jason David Jones, Nicholas Badello and Alex Roxonda Badello.

Visitation will be held Saturday, November 30 and Sunday, December 1 from 9am to 5pm at Stumpff Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 2, 2019 at 2pm at the Wann Community Center with interment to follow at the Wann Cemetery.
