October 29, 1923 ~ July 29, 2006 (age 82)

John "Frank" Still, 82-year-old Nowata resident, passed away at 9:35p.m., Saturday, July 29, 2006 at the Nowata Nursing Center. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Still will be held at 10:00a.m., Wednesday, August 2, 2006 at the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Larry DeLay officiating. The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the 10-33 Emergency Team, 321 E. Cherokee, Nowata, OK 74048. On-line condolences can be left at www.honoringmemories.com. Services are under the direction of the Benjamin Funeral Home of Nowata. John Franklin "Frank" Still was born October 29, 1923 in Yonkers, Oklahoma to Jim Still and Lonny Spencer-Thayer. Mr. Still attended the Chelocko Indian School as a young man. He later would serve his country in the United States Army as a Paratrooper during World War II. After returning from the service, Mr. Still began working as a carpenter. He belonged to the Carpenter's Union in Tulsa for 40 years. Mr. Still was married to Kathryn Williams who preceded him in death and later was united in marriage toAlice Fry on Dec.16, 1994. She survives of the home. Mr. Still enjoyed his family and the time he spent with them during family reunions and various other activities. He enjoyed catching catfish on limb-lines and loved coon hunting in his younger years. Mr. Still was a member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion. Mr. Still is survived by his wife Alice of the home; by two daughters, Connie James of Nowata and Ann Gray of Ponca City; by two sons, Frankie Still of Afton and Johnny Still of Ketchum; by one step-son, Lewis McKenzy of Bartlesville; by one brother, Don Still of Delaware; by two half-brothers, Macky Thayer of Quinton and Jack Thayer of Dallas, Texas; by 14 grandchildren; and by numerous great-grandchildren.
