Deloris June Smith, 89, of Dewey, died Monday, November 5, 2018, in Bartlesville.

Deloris was born January 27, 1929, to Dora E. (Dean) and Linzzie L. Eagleson in Alluwe in Nowata County, OK, where she was raised and educated. She grew up working in her grandmother’s restaurant and played basketball in school. She married Jay E. Smith and the couple made their home in Nowata. One son Steven Wayne Smith was born to this union, Steven preceded his parents in death due to complications from a motorcycle accident. Jay worked for Phillips Petroleum Company and was assigned to work in Alaska, California and Stavanger, Norway. Once retired, the couple moved back to their home in Dewey to care for their son.
Deloris loved to cook and eat, and she took pride in her home. In addition to being a homemaker, she was also an Amway distributor. The couple loved to travel and she loved spotting live red cardinals and collecting the manmade versions. She enjoyed going to the state fairs and playing the guessing games with carnival workers. Deloris was a member of the Dewey First Church of God. She served as a youth leader and Sunday School teacher in the Nowata Church.

Deloris is survived by two brothers in law, Donald G. Smith and Betty of Dewey, and Tommy W. Smith and Vickie Nett of Bartlesville; and three cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Jay, son Steven and sister Irene Franz.

Deloris’s family will receive friends at the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel, 918-534-3030, 113 S. Osage (Hwy. 75), Dewey, on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will also be held on Thursday from 10-8.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, November 9, at the Davis Family Funeral Home - Dewey Chapel.

Interment will take place in the Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery.

Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel.
