Martha Lee "Wallace" Brown, age 89, passed away Friday, January 4, 2019 in Fort Smith Arkansas.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday January 8, 2019 at Hillside Christian Church in Nowata, Oklahoma are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Services.

Martha Lee "Wallace" Brown, the daughter of Thomas J. Wallace and Edith Mae Wallace Gillespey was born on March 8, 1929 in Pawhuska, Oklahoma. She was a descendent of the Journeycake Family. She moved to the Nowata area when she was five years of age. She attended Nowata schools and graduated from Nowata High School. She was a member of Nowata's marching band and was "Football Queen" in 1945. She moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1955 and back to Nowata in 1959. While in Wichita she worked for the Internal Revenue Service. She moved to the Kansas City, Kansas area in 1975 and returned to Nowata in 1982. While living in Nowata Martha worked for the Nowata Motor Co. for sixteen years; the County Treasurer's Office for eight years; the County Assessor's Office for six years and several years at the Nowata County Tag Office. She had also worked with Ben Killion, at the Hillside Christian Church for ten years. In addition to being a long time member of The Hillside Christian Church, she was active in the Ladies "Joy" Class of the Sunday School. Martha was a member of the Eastern Star and had served as "Past Worthy Adviser of Rainbow Girls". Martha was married to Erchil Ernest Brown at Chanute, Kansas on October 15, 1955.

Erchil preceded his wife in death on February 19, 1982.

Martha is survived by One son, William E. "Bill" Brown of Greenwood, Arkansas; One daughter, Debra L. "Debbie" Brown of Nowata, Oklahoma; Four grandchildren, Daniel E. Brown of Joplin, Missouri, Matthew Aaron Brown and Katie Pound both of Greenwood, Arkansas and Casey Joe Rosson of Nowata, Oklahoma; Three great grandchildren, Ashley Marie Pound, Zachary Dale Pound and Reagan Leeann Brown; Two nephews and One great nephew.

Martha is preceded in death both her parents and by her step-mother Frances Wallace of the Nowata area and One sister, Barbara Jean (Mrs. Luther) Webb of Coffeyville, Kansas; One brother Luther Webb; Two nephews and one great nephew
