A Rosary for Carl B. Hamm, 84, of Perry, will be 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Perry. The Rev. Thomas Dowdell will officiate. A Mass of Christian burial will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. The Rev. Lawrence Stasyszen will officiate. Burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, Perry.

He was born Oct. 31, 1924, in Jennings to Bert F. and Ethel Fitzpatrick Hamm and died Friday, March 13, 2009, in Oklahoma City.

He attended schools in Oklahoma City and graduated from Central High School.

He served in the Army Feb. 24, 1943, to Jan. 1, 1946. He was a member of the medical detachment of the 543rd Engineer Boat and Shore Regiment of the 3rd Engineer Special Brigade. He served in New Guinea, the Philippines and Japan.

He attended Johns Hopkins University under the Army specialized training program. After his discharge from the Army, he attended Oklahoma City University and the University of Oklahoma.

He held certificates of graduation from American Institute of Banking and was a member and graduate of the first class of Certified Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma.

He began his banking career at City National Bank & Trust Company, Oklahoma City, in 1947. He joined the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in 1948 as an assistant national bank examiner. He returned to commercial banking in 1951, and in 1957, he joined the staff of First National Bank, Perry. He retired as president and chief executive officer on April 30, 1996, after 40 years of service. He was a member of Oklahoma Bankers Association 50-year Club.

He married Marjorie Wald March 28, 1948, in Oklahoma City. She died April 2, 1996.

He married Kaye Abraham Sept. 4, 1999.

He was a member of Knights of Columbus, Oklahoma City, Perry Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees, State Advisory Council of the U.S. Small Business Administration and National Advisory Council of the SBA. He was a member and past president of Perry Rotary Club. He served eight years as a member of State of Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board and two terms as chairman. He also was appointed to Board of Regents of Northern Oklahoma College.

Surviving are his wife, Kaye; two daughters, Carla Brand of Oklahoma City and Therese Goodwin of Edmond; two sons, Richard Hamm of Amarillo, Texas, and John Hamm of Atlanta; two stepdaughters, Debi Smith of Miami and Valerie Villarreal of Plano, Texas; one stepson, Vincent Abraham of Perry; one sister, Lila Rains of Edmond; one brother, the Rev. Delbert Hamm of Oklahoma City; 10 grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife, Marjorie, he was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and one daughter.

Memorials may be made
through the funeral home to St. Gregory's University or Catholic Charaties.
