Lillie Maxine Dunford, a longtime Perry resident, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at the Perry Green Valley Nursing Home, Perry at the age of 96. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Perry. Pastor Albert Quick will officiate. Interment will follow at Grace Hill Cemetery, Perry. Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home, Perry, Ok.

Lillie was born on October 16, 1917 in Noble County to the late Ralph L. and Hazel (Burke) Cooper. She grew up in Perry, graduating from St. Joseph’s Academy in 1935. Lillie was the only senior in her class and they closed the Academy’s high school that year. While in high school she was very active in all of the activities. Lillie married the love of her life Dick Dunford on May 12, 1936 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. To this union Richard and Cheryl were born. They made their home in Perry, becoming members of the First Baptist Church in September of 1948. While her children were growing up, she volunteered for the Perry Band Boosters and the FFA mothers.

Lillie was a member of the Ladie’s Tuesday Afternoon Club, Baptist Women’s Group, LLL Sunday School Class and the Perry Country Club.

She also enjoyed golfing, sewing, needlework, decorating, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her son Richard Dunford of Perry, daughter, Cheryl Hansing and husband Keith of McKinney, Tx., grandchildren Lisa Jeffrey and husband Joe, Kelly Bendure and husband Todd, Sheila Stueve and husband Monty, Brad Hansing and wife Jennifer, great grandchildren Justin Jeffrey and wife Caitlan, Courtney Jeffrey, Kaelyn Bendure, Brittany Bendure, Cooper Skluzacek, Hunter Hansing, Kendalyn Stueve, Colton Hansing.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dick Dunford in 2001, grandchildren Ralph Brett Dunford and Shelly Renee Dunford, daughter-in-law May Dunford, two brothers and one sister.

Memorials may be made to Green Valley Nursing Home or Companion Hospice in Lillie’s name, in care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry.
