Tennie Alice (Cartwright) James
December 15, 1917 ~ May 9, 2008

Tennie departed this life Friday, May 9, 2008 at Muskogee Regional Medical Center at the age of 90. Tennie was born to William Henry and Christennie (Gish) Cartwright on December 15, 1917 in the White Church Community.

She married Luther James May 30, 1936. He preceded her in death September 1991.

Tennie retired from the Muskogee Regional Medical Center. She was a charter member of Oldham Memorial Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Luther; and her siblings Beadie Cox, Galey, Felix, O.B., Dallas and Bruce Cartwright.

She is survived by her children Polly Grimes and son Ricky Marvel, Carl (Sue) James, Betris “Bea” Edwards all of Muskogee, Barbara (Lanny) Cartwright of Oktaha, Ben (Paula) James of Okay, Doyle (Jackie) James of Olathe, CO. She is survived by seventeen grandchildren, thirty-eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at Lescher-Millsap Chapel in Muskogee on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. with Brother Tom Shelton officiating. Pallbearers will be Adam James, Brandon James, Mike James, Ricky Cartwright, Wayne Cartwright and Jason Hammack. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Grimes and Ron Harris.
