Helen Ann (Wright) Greer

Helen Ann (Wright) Greer
November 5, 1938 ~ July 28, 2020

Helen Ann Wright Greer, age 81, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020, at home in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was born November 5, 1938, in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Eddie and Ada Ruth Wright. She attended Muskogee Central High School and graduated with the class of 1957.

On June 7, 1958, Helen Ann married Mahylon Greer at Boulevard Christian Church in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She raised her children in Grandview and resided there for 52 years. She, joyfully, was the neighborhood mom from sleepovers to cooking to carpooling. She never missed an event in her children's lives. Helen Ann started working for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections at Eddie Warrior Correctional Center in 1989. For 31 years, she was the Receptionist and Customer Service Representative, being the first to greet anyone visiting the facility. Her co-workers even became her second family. She made the decision to retire and it was to be final Friday, July 31, 2020, on which date she was to receive a drive-by retirement parade, due to Covid-19. Instead, she received her parade through the pearly gates, a much greater reward.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eddie Wright and Ada Ruth (Sanborn) Wright; sisters, Josephine Elizabeth and Mary Ruth; husband, Mahylon Greer.

Helen Ann is survived by her daughter, Vickie Berner and husband Brett, son Kenneth Greer and wife Traci; grandchildren, Ashlee Nicole Berner, Jack Mahylon Lee and Sally Ann Greer; a host of cousins, nieces, and nephews; and special friend, Chandler Jackson.

Helen Ann was born, raised, and married at Boulevard Christian Church. The Sunday School class was exceptionally precious to her as she looked forward, each week, to their fellowship.

Helen Ann was loved and adored. She will be remembered for her cooking, entertaining at holidays, her smile, her love for her family, and mostly her love for Jesus. She will be greatly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Helen's memory to Boulevard Christian Church, 1700 W Shawnee, Muskogee, OK 74401.

The family will receive friends 2:00pm-4:00pm Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

A celebration of Helen's life will be 11:00am Monday, August 3, 2020 at Boulevard Christian Church with James McCracken officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery with Bret Smith, Greg Payton, Chuck Garrett, Tody Etchison, Patrick Cale, and Chandler Jackson serving as Pallbearers.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 North York St, Muskogee, Oklahoma. Condolences may be made to the family online at http://www.cornerstoneofmuskogee.com.
