Thurman Robert Condley

July 27, 1919 ~ February 20, 2006

Thurman Robert Condley, 86, of Muskogee passed away Monday, February 20, 2006 and joined his Lord and his wife, Jewell Condley who preceded him in death the previous Monday. He was born to George William and Nora (Newton) Condley on July 27, 1919 in Russellville, AR.

Thurman traveled with his family in a covered wagon to Muskogee. He came from a humble beginning and grew into a hard working man of God, serving the Lord throughout his life. He obeyed the great commission to spread the Gospel during the 50's and 60's by having layman tent revivals (Brush Harber) throughout eastern Oklahoma. He was a faithful member and served on various committees of Eastern Heights Baptist Church, Calvary Baptist Church and most recently First Baptist Church.

Mr. Condley owned and operated two service stations, Condley Texaco and Condley DX. In 1976, he sold the stations and began working for Pioneer Abstract & Title Co. He continued working for 25 years before retiring at the age of 82. He enjoyed playing basketball, hunting and fishing and helping his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Thurman was a devoted husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather and friend. He lived his life as "a good and faithful servant" and will be missed by many whose lives be blessed.

He is survived by his two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Condley & Kelly of Norman; Chris Condley & Dana of Muskogee; five grandchildren: Tanner Condley; Kelsey Condley, Seth Condley & his wife, Rachael, Sarah Milliken & her husband Cameron and Matthew Condley; four great grandchildren: Joye & Griffin Condley and Tripp & Teagan Milliken; his brother Orba Condley of Skiatook and his sister Ruth Borum of Haskell, numerous nieces, nephews and other loved ones, church families, and a host of friends. Thurman was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Faye Moerbeck and his brothers, Verlin Condley, Clyde Condley, Bill Condley and George Condley.

Viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. today, Thursday, at Bradley Funeral Service. A celebration of Mr. Condley's life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2005 at the First Baptist Church of Muskogee with Chaplain Bill Crow officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhill Cemetery with Tanner Condley, Kelsey Condley, Seth Condley, Matthew Condley, Cameron Milliken, Larry Lanier and Shad Harder serving as pallbearers.
