Melva Cordelia (Reed) Warren

July 28, 1926 ~ November 16, 2008

Melva Cordelia Warren, of Midwest City, passed away Sunday, November 16, 2008, at the age of 82. She was born on July 28, 1926, in Stigler, Okla. to Thomas and Josey Reed.

Melva had an intense passion for music and at one time entertained as a U.S.O. singer. In the 1950s, she performed under her stage name, Leigh Warren, on Oklahoma City television stations. Later in life, she worked in the medical field where she retired as an insurance clerk.

Melva was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Dale Warren and daughter, Jane Ellen Wilson.

She is survived by a sister, Merlene Jarman and husband Jack; daughters Rebecca Burger and her husband Steve, Gloria Dawkins and her husband Rick; grandchildren: Shari Burger, George Meier, and Linsey Michaud and her husband Benjamin; and one great-granddaughter, Adeline Michaud.

Funeral services for Melva will be held at 10 a.m., on Thursday, November 20, at Barnes Friederich Funeral Home Chapel with a committal service at 2 p.m., Thursday at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery.
