James Eugene Sprague

April 14, 1932 ~ Feb. 12, 2012

Graveside Services for James Eugene Sprague will be Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 1 p.m., at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery. Services were entrusted to Hart Funeral Home

James Eugene Sprague, the son of Clair Eugene and Mary Elizabeth (Hobbs) Sprague, was born April 14, 1932, in Carrier, and departed this life on Sunday Feb. 12, 2012, at his home in Cookson, at the age of 79 years, nine months and 29 days.

James enjoyed life. He was a pilot and enjoyed flying when he could. He was retired from Federal Aviation as an Electronic Technician.

He enjoyed farming and just being outdoors, whether fishing or just working around the farm.

James taught integrity through action and always brought laughter to any situation. James touched many lives and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

James was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, John Sprague.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his wife of over 61 years, Verla Sprague of the home in Cookson; son, Bill Sprague and wife Dottie of Park Hill; brother, Jack Sprague and wife Pat of Austin, Colo.; sister, Jeanie Ferguson and husband Raymond of Enid; grandchildren, Jeremy Sprague and wife Tracy, Andrea Sprague and Steven Sprague; and great�grandchildren, Drew Sprague and Lauren Sprague. Many nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives also survive him.
