Billie Maxine (Jones) Scroggins

August 25, 1932 ~ May 5, 2023

Billie Maxine (Jones) Scroggins was born in Keota, OK on August 25, 1932. She passed peacefully from this life on May 5, 2023 at the age of 90.

Billie was a 1950 graduate of Keota High School. She married Jack Scroggins on July 20, 1951. They resided in Arlington, VA (upon Jack's return from the Korean War) before settling in Muskogee, OK to begin their family and careers.

Billie was a school secretary for Muskogee Public schools for many years before retiring in 1992 She so enjoyed being around children. She loved relating stories about their antics. Stories which in recent years included her great grandchildren Chloee and Cason. Billie attended the First Methodist Church of Muskogee for many years, before she moved to Park Hill, to be with her daughter's family.

Billie was the type of person that showed up when a friend or family was in need of help.. When her Mother was at the end of her life, it was Billie that took care that she was comfortable. When Jack, her husband, was going through a very difficult time at the end of his life, it was Billie that kept him safe. If a friend needed help with anything, including house cleaning, it was Billie at the door, to do what was necessary to make your life a bit easier. We all benefited from her help, and we will miss her.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Scroggins; daughter, Kara Davis; parents Chloe and K.J. Medlock and Lawrence Jones; stepsister Oleda Mitchell; and stepbrothers Harland Medlock and Leon Medlock. Billie is survived by her son, Craig and wife Chris of Muskogee; son-in-law Terry Davis; granddaughter, Evan Barnes and husband Colton; great grandchildren, Chloee and Cason Barnes, all of Tahlequah; brother, Gary Medlock and wife Hope of El Paso, TX; sister, Betty Huff and husband Larry of Oklahoma City, OK; along with a host of family and friends.

On Tuesday last, Billie was laid to rest with Jack at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with family and close friends in attendance. This was Billie's wish, she was more concerned with others than making a display for herself, but if you knew Billie, you would understand that it was just the kind of "Gal" she was.
