James Ray Rogers

James Ray Rogers
January 13, 1933 - October 25, 2015

James Ray Rogers, 82, was born January 13, 1933 in Ada, OK to James E. and Lula (Hall) Rogers and passed away Sunday, October 25, 2015 in Tampa FL. James grew up in Oklahoma City where he graduated from Central High School with the class of 1951. James attended OSU, where he was a student athletic trainer with his mentor Doc Johnson, graduating in 1955.

James joined the United States Air Force in August of 1955, as a First Lt., rising to the rank of Captain. He received an Honorable discharge in August 1961. He was assistant basketball coach and athletic trainer at Eastern New Mexico University. James married Martha Wade in July 1962, making their home in El Paso, Texas where James coached basketball and taught at Bel Air High School. James joined the FBI in 1966, a job that took him many places. James’ first assignment was in the San Diego, CA office. He was then transferred to Springfield, IL, assigned and transferred to Rock Island, IL for eight years. James was promoted to Special Agent in Charge of Carbondale, IL office, where he also taught Criminal Justice classes at University of Illinois. James retired in 1988 from the FBI Oklahoma City office as a Muskogee, OK resident. He loved to hunt, fish and teach. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Muskogee, OK. James is survived by his wife of 53 years; Martha of the home, daughter; Sarah Gagliardi and grandson; Dominick both of Hoboken, NJ, also survived by a brother; Bill Rogers of Tampa, FL.

A private family service was held to honor and celebrate James life and his service to our Country in the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
