Sheila Jean (Agent) Hambrick

Sheila Jean (Agent) Hambrick
March 1, 1948 ~ December 30, 2022

Sheila Hambrick went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 30, 2022. She was born on March 1, 1948, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, grew up in Sallisaw, and spent most of her life in Muskogee, Oklahoma.

Sheila was preceded in death by her parents Dorothy and James B. Agent, sister Dorothy Anne Moffitt, brother James B. Agent, Jr. and her precious son James K. Hambrick. Left to cherish her memory is her husband Jimmy and a host of nieces, nephews and in-laws who adored her.

Sheila married her high school sweetheart, Jimmy Hambrick, in 1967 and celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary in October.

Sheila graduated from Central High School in 1966 and received a Bachelor of Science degrees in Library Science and Elementary Education from Northeastern State College in 1969. She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority.

Sheila joined Muskogee public schools in 1970 as an elementary teacher, then as a librarian, and later a library media specialist. Her passion was educating and working with junior high/middle school students. Over the years, she taught thousands of Alice Robertson students and later taught their children and their grandchildren.

Sheila began working in the late 1970's with the cheerleading programs in Muskogee Alice Robertson Junior High School. She coached the Freshman Cheerleading Squad, Spirit Steppers Dance Team, and worked with the Pep Club. In the late 1980's she was asked to take over the coaching duties at Muskogee High School with the Roughers Varsity Cheerleading Squad, a position she kept until the late 1990's. During her time, the MHS Cheer Squads competed in numerous state competitions and always won top honors at summer cheer camps. The one thing Sheila enjoyed most about being a cheerleading coach was being able to work with the girls and watching them succeed. Sheila was an active member of the Oklahoma Coaches Association. In 1996, the Oklahoma Coaches Association Cheerleading coaches voted her the All-State Games Cheerleading coach. In 2017 she was inducted into the Muskogee Athletics Hall of Fame. Sheila was an active member of the Kappa Kappa Iota Education Sorority where she enjoyed the friendships and the special times they shared.

Sheila retired from teaching in 2014 after 45 dedicated years with Muskogee Public Schools.

It was Sheila's desire that each of her friends should not mourn, but should celebrate her new life, living in perfect peace. In abiding by Sheila's wishes, there will be a small private family memorial to celebrate her life. Sheila will be laid to rest at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests Memorial contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org in Sheila's name.

The family of Sheila J. Hambrick have entrusted her care, and burial to Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home, Fort Gibson. 918-478-2555.
