 Eugene Finch

December 23, 1933 ~ 2004

On December 23, 1933, Eugene Finch was born to William and Rosetta (Stanley) Finch in Taft, OK. Gene, as he was known to family and friends, was inducted into the U.S. Army, served his country and was honorably discharged in 1954. After being discharged, he returned to his home in Taft, OK where he completed his education.

He graduated from Moton High School with the class of 1955. He attended Muskogee Jr. College. On November 20, 1954, he married his high school sweetheart, Vesta Ingram and they were blessed with three children, Debbie, Delminio, and Tyrone.

He professed Christ at an early age and was baptized. He was a member of New Jerusalem Baptist Church, and Victory Christian Church until the Lord called him home.

He was employed with Bama Pie Co. of Tulsa, Taft State Hospital as a butcher, Callery Chemical Co. of Muskogee, Board of Education in Muskogee, Prestolite of Wagoner, and Dover & Norris Co. of Tulsa. He was also self employed for 35 years as owner of Finch & Finch Landscaping and Janitorial Service. He had many hobbies; fishing, hunting, and gardening. He was an avid collector of vintage automobiles and he loved to rodeo and horseback riding. He lived life to its fullest, always putting his wife and family first. He was a very loving and devoted husband and father. Honey, as he was affectionately called by his loving wife of 49 1/2 years so much that their closest friends also referred to him as Honey. Our sweet little Tiffany Boyattia called him, Mr. Honey. After a brief illness, Gene went home to be with our Lord and Savior on March 16, 2004.

Those celebrating his home going is his wife of the home. Three children; Debbie Farley of Tulsa, Delminio Finch and Tyrone Finch of Muskogee, two sisters; Mentie Scott of Tulsa, Patricia Finch of Dallas, TX and one brother; Henry Allen Finch of Tulsa. Three grandchildren; Dionca Raniece Finch, LaToya Farley and Delminio Rahim Finch, and a host of nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews, cousins and friends.

Viewing will be Tuesday, March 23, at New Jerusalem Baptist Church from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. There will be no viewing after the service. Services will be Wednesday, March 24, at 11:00 a.m. at New Jerusalem Baptist Church.

His final resting place will be Ft . Gibson National Cemetery.

Dinner will be served at the Masonic Temple at 24th & Military Drive.

Service are under the Personal Direction of The New Dyer Memorial Chapel Tulsa, OK, 1-877-277-Dyer.
