Eugene Dye 97, of Muskogee, Oklahoma passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023. He was born on May 23, 1926, the fourth of nine children to Roy and Pearl (West) Dye in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma. He graduated from Fort Gibson High School with the class of 1944. He continued his education at Muskogee Jr College, graduating in 1953. He went on and attended Northeastern State University. Gene married the love of his life Ruby Maxine Williams, on June 26, 1948. They shared over 75 years of life, marriage, and family together.

Gene proudly served in the U.S. Navy in The South Pacific during World War II and received an honorable discharge. He retired from the General Services Administration after 37 years in 1981. He also worked in civil services as a public service building manager for eastern and southeast Oklahoma in the federal government. Gene was a faithful member of Trinity Methodist Church since 1953. He served in many capacities such as chairman of trustees, pastor parish relations committee and head usher. Gene was a Master Mason in the Trinity Lodge# 502 of Muskogee, and 33-degree Scottish Rite Mason of McAlester. He was a member of the Bedouin Shrine of Muskogee and was awarded the Masonic Metal of Honor. He was also a member of VFW, American Legion and D.A.V.

Gene was an avid sportsman and loved quail, pheasant, and deer hunting, and fishing. He also loved going camping and spending time with his family. He will be missed by everyone who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Pearl Dye; brothers, John Dye, Billy Dye, Robert Roy Dye, Charles Dye; sisters, Rosa Lee James and Wanda Bradley and twin daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Pamela Dye.

Gene is survived by his loving wife, Ruby Dye, brother Henry Dye and sister Minnie Ellen Logan along with many nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

A celebration of Gene's life will be 12PM, Friday, August 25, 2023 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gwen Collins Derrick officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
