Ivan Dewey Burge
December 5, 1930 ~ October 28, 2019

Ivan Dewey Burge, 88, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 28, 2019. He was born on December 5, 1930 to Earl Dewey Burge and Bertie Mae (Fowler) Burge in St. Louis, Missouri. Ivan attended Desoto Public Schools in first grade through twelfth grade. He served in the United States Army National Guard and received an honorable discharge.

Ivan married the love of his life, Wanda Lee Blake, on August 28, 1953 in St. Louis Missouri. They shared over 66 years of life and marriage together.

Ivan was a truck driver and a hotel owner for many years until his retirement. He loved golfing, making clocks and had a passion for antique cars. Ivan was a devoted fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved going to all the sports that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren played. He also loved singing in quartets and was a faithful member of Oldham Memorial Baptist Church for 34 years serving as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. Ivan loved his family very much and will always be remembered by the ones who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Bertie Burge; stepmother, Ethel Burge; sister, Iris Dean Warren; brothers, Pete Burge and Dean Burpo.

Ivan is survived by his wife Wanda of the home; children, Steven M. Burge and wife Sharalyn of Oklahoma City, OK, Thela A. Hinnen and husband Bill of Hewitt, TX, and Dwaine Dewey Burge and wife Rhonda of Moberly, MO; sister, Jewell Angstrom of Desoto, MO; 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends, Thursday, 5:30PM-7:30PM, Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Cornerstone Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be made to Oldham Memorial Special Gift Fund.
A celebration of Ivan's life will be 11AM, Friday, November 1, 2019 at Oldham Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Glen Little officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Mike Carter, Michael Burge, Keith Wallace, Nick Burge, Brandon Clagg and Wes Young serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Virgil Medley, Jeff Walker, Dearl Baird and Michael O'Keefe.

Funeral services are under the direction of Cornerstone Funeral Home, 1830 N. York Street, Muskogee, OK.

Wanda Lee Burge, 87, of Muskogee, Oklahoma went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, May 11, 2021. She was born on May 8, 1934 to Lawrence Emmens Blake and Pearl Wave Blake in St. Louis, Missouri. Wanda graduated from Hancock Place High School in St. Louis.

She and Ivan Burge were engaged during her senior year of high school and then she married the love of her life on August 28, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. They shared over 66 years of life and marriage together.

Wanda was a hotel owner and a home maker. She loved sewing, making crafts, and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team. She was a faithful member of Oldham Memorial Baptist Church for over 36 years. She loved her family very much, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Wanda will always be remembered by the ones who loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Pearl Blake; brothers, Wayne and Harry Blake; and husband, Ivan Burge.

Wanda is survived by her children, Steven M. Burge and wife Sharalyn of Oklahoma City, OK, Thela A. Hinnen and husband Bill of Muskogee, OK, and Dwaine D. Burge and wife Rhonda of Moberly, MO; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends 2PM-4PM, Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Cornerstone Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be made to the Oldham Memorial Special Gift Fund: 3605 Tahlequah St, Muskogee, OK 74401.

A celebration of Wanda's life will be 11AM, Monday, May 17, 2021 at Oldham Memorial Baptist Church with Pastor Glen Little officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Gibson National Cemetery with Brandon Clagg, Nicolas Burge, Michael Burge, Tyler Whitehead, Dylan Durossette and Mike Carter serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Baird, Jeff Bemo, Virgil Medley and Keith Wallace.
